Cuihu Park is the “green emerald” of downtown Kunming and is open to the public free of charge. Large flocks of red-billed gulls gather here even in winter. The Yunnan Military Academy and several small museums are scattered around the park. Locals come here to walk their birds, play chess, and sing—it’s the best place to experience Kunming’s laid-back lifestyle.
