Beijing’s 27 subway lines cover the entire city. Starting in September 2024, international Visa and Mastercard holders can tap their cards to enter stations directly without purchasing a ticket.Direct Access to Attractions: Line 8, Jinyu Hutong Station (10-minute walk to the Forbidden City); Line 5, Hepingxiqiao Station (boarding point for the direct shuttle to Mutianyu); Line 5, Tiantan East Gate Station (Temple of Heaven); Line 4, Beigongmen Station (Summer Palace); Line 1, Tiananmen East/West Stations (Tiananmen Square); Lines 6/8, Nanluoguxiang Station(Hutong). Avoid Line 1 during morning and evening rush hours: 7:30–9:00 and 17:30–19:00.

Using the Didi app is more reliable than hailing a taxi on the street—prices are transparent, routes are tracked via GPS, and payment is automatically deducted.

Capital Airport (PEK): The Airport Express costs 25 yuan and takes 25 minutes to Dongzhimen. Daxing Airport (PKX): The Airport Express costs 35 yuan and takes 20 minutes to Caoqiao.

Beijing has 5 high-speed rail stations. Beijing South Station: Beijing–Shanghai/Beijing–Tianjin High-Speed Rail; 20-minute ride into the city via Line 4. Beijing West Station: Beijing–Guangzhou High-Speed Rail; access to the city via Lines 7 and 9. Beijing Station: Beijing–Harbin Line; 5-minute ride into the city via Line 2. Beijing North Station: Beijing–Zhangjiakou High-Speed Rail to the Badaling Great Wall in 30 minutes. Beijing Chaoyang Station: Beijing–Shenyang High-Speed Rail.
